Video does not contain the single pixel sharp edges that are only possible with PC text and graphics. Video has nothing in common with computer graphics. Both look identical, even on a 1920x1080 resolution test pattern.

I have a 70” Sony SXRD 1920x1080p display connected to my HTPC and can run either 1080i or 1080p output.

Both are 1920x1080, and since the only true 1080i displays are CRT, the only digital display capable of showing 1080i at full resolution is a 1920x1080p digital model.Īll HD display accept 1080i input but that does NOT make them 1080i displays. That is just not the case.ġ080i from a progressive source (film) is IDENTICAL to 1080p.
I am constantly seeing posts where 1080i is portrayed as inferior in resolution to 1080p. The difference between 1080i and 1080p is huge, at any distance, like you say 1366 x 768 is a long way away from 1920 x 1080 As you are a TV repairman, I would be interested to see how you have it set up. Was wondering if you could share your settings with me. Are LCDs better for gaming or if you aren't a picture nazi, should the plasma be fine for gaming? Can anyone confirm this or does LG have a pretty good dead pixel return policy?
My mate's LG plasma had one dead pixel but he reckons he can't return it until he has a few dead pixels. I'm no video critic so I think this 60" LG panel will satisfy my needs. I watched the Bledisloe tonight on my mate's LG 50" plasma and I was very impressed with the picture. It may not have Pioneers blackest blacks, but you are not going to have one of those beside the LG, so you wont be sitting there thinking you wish the LG had blacker blacks. This forum bashes LG a bit, but I couldn't be happier. I watch from 2.8 - 3 metres and do not ever feel like I am too close. The picture is great and the size is awesome. I have had this plasma now for 3 weeks and I am more than happy with it. ĭunno what else to say but great value for money Īnother thing i had to do was buy a Scart to RGB cable to run my foxtel and picture is now spot on from my foxtel digital. I had a digitec High Def box i was going to use to hook into it but found the internal high def tuner built into this LG was spot on so no need for external tuner.

This adjustment is easily available so just read your instruction manual on the combo to get into it. 1 thing i had to do ( that pisses me off again with all LGs ) is that i had to gointo the menu and turn down the red drive and pump up the green a bit as their very red biased and untill i did this found the skintone on faces fake. Its obviously no Pioneer but i tell ya, its bloody damn close and in fact i have a 87cm Sony Wega and cosidering pix is twice and a bit the size, it looked bettr than the wega and this was coming from the same source. Īnyway, i got mine home this arvo, played with all my setting and am wrapped with it.
ġ thing i find annoying about ALL LG TVs ( talkig from a tv repair background ) is the fact their fatory settings and the way there set up in stores is maximum contrast and TOOOOOO much colour, my mate has 1 and i was luckily enough to see it in normal home conditions and had a good play and settings and once it was all set to user preferences etc came up beautifull. Yes, i just bought 1 today as a matter of fact.
